Cosmetology, Skin Esthetics & Massage Therapy Trade School: Mario & Elaine Olivieri, Josef’s School of Hair, Skin & Body

Written by: Fargo Inc

Josef’s School of Hair, Skin and Body is not your ordinary hair school. Josef’s is bright, timeless and unique in that it utilizes the latest in cosmetology, massage and esthetics. Students not only learn the most modern techniques, but they learn to recognize their strengths, develop relationships and grow their creativity and authenticity.

Josef’s focus on legacy is what sets them apart from other schools in North Dakota. When Joseph Olivieri went to beauty school in 1946, he was one of three male students at Fargo’s New York Hair Design Academy. In 1960, he started his own school with three students. Within a year, he had 100 students. In 1994, he turned the reins of the school over to his son, Mario, an award-winning hairdresser in his own right.

Today, Josef’s is a fully accredited and Pulp Riot school, and the longest standing massage school in the state. Many students enjoy their time at Josef’s because of the hands-on education, public service options and community involvement. Each year, Josef’s supports the Salvation Army by providing over 200 haircuts for veterans and hosting Confidence in Beauty courses for local teenagers.
